The Gloria F.
Ross Center, founded in 1997, fosters the creative practice and cultural
study of tapestry.
Our research projects and public programs address the art of traditional and
contemporary tapestry, hand-woven in many societies from ancient to modern
times.
We encourage the scholarly understanding and public appreciation of
tapestries. Our activities include:
-
conducting active
interdisciplinary research;
-
organizing and supporting artistic, historical, and cultural programs;
-
honoring scholarly
excellence in research, publication, exhibition, and teaching; and
-
collaborating with other organizations and individuals with similar goals.
In this website, you will find examples of our
varied activities. In addition to learning about our founder, trustees,
director, and staff, you can link to many other tapestry sites. We hope
that, whether you are a weaver, collector, curator, or newcomer, you
will discover many useful connections to tapestry-related resources.
